THE WHOLE REPORT

This is my whole report that i did for out Hunted film and most of these pages contains images because i think its clearer if i add images to my explanation and i used images to prove my work and to clarify that i'm not just saying it i'm giving evidence of my work as well.

REPORT EDITING

This is what i wrote about my editing i will zoom into the pages so you can see what i wrote for my editing.
I had quite a lot to write because i am quite confident when it comes to using Final cut express and i enjoy doing it so i always try and d new things and discover things that are useful and good to keep in mind because i might need to use them for our next project.

new garage band song

I created a new song for the beginning of the film because i thought this one was more appropriate for building up the tension in the film.

LATEST MASTER

This is how my master looks now. I added the new sound clip i made in Garage Band and it goes better with the film now. Also to build up the tension every time i added the sound clip (because it was too short i had to keep adding it) i increased the volume to make it more dramatic and to let the audience know that something is happening and something is going to happen.

Garage Band (beginning of the film)

Garage band. I helped  Louis with the music for the begining and this is what we came out with. We thought we could have some mixture of two clips that gives you th idea thats something is going to happen, but its not happening yet.

Master 2

My Master nearly done, i added a song at the beginning so there was something on the background and it wasnt just the echo of the environment in the room.
theres a few clips where no one is talking so the music in the background goes well.

This is how my master is going so far, and as you can see nearly the end the sound jumped a little bit so i had to move the clips up and the sound down and edit it and also use rubber bands for the sound.

Today's Media Lesson

We got our Unit 2 Introduction to Media. Pre-production.
So i just did some extra work and finish the 1st image because i didnt do it. I only did one of the cameras so i drew another camera and then wrote down information.

Garage Band

This is my garage band song i created for my New York video i did a few weeks ago.
I combined a few songs together and this is what it came out like.

When filming in the forest...

Filming in the forest and we all took part in this sequence but the director Tom Adams.
Hes been directing the film, not all of it but most of it and also did some of the camera work which was quite good as 3 persons in our group were acting.

Clown

this is the clown mask we are using for this project which is played by two persons in this group.

Change of Ideas

We started filming and going along with the story board and the shot list, but then when we were filming sequence 2 in the forest we thought of more ideas and we put all of our ideas together and we realised it could actually be better than our first idea.
So now we've changed a bit sequence 2.
Also its been raining quite a lot so it was quite difficult to film in the forest, so we're kind of rushing but i think we will manage to get everything done for friday and then when i have everything i can then edit everything and put both of the sequences in the MASTER sequence then maybe add more effects.
And also i've been doing the credits, which is quite a lot of pressure so im thinking about doing the credits all together as im still editing the video so i haven't stopped working at all.
Im also coming in early every time i have media first thing in the morning, and i spend most of my breaks and lunches in media as well because im trying to get a distinction by putting effort in this video and also doing blog posts along the way.

Video Part 2

This is the sequence 2 when we're filming in the forest, its not done yet because we filmed it and then we realised that one of the clips jumped to the next one and it looked horrible so we had to go out again the next day and film again the same shots, then it started to rain so we had to go in so we didnt get a chance to get out and film again on that day or today.

Video Part 1

This is as far as i go with the video, thats only the first sequence but i have done some of the sequence 2 as well.
It took us quite a while to find a perfect and FREE room to film all the clips in the same place, but we managed to get a free room for a day and we hurried up and we got all the clips so then we could move on to the forest and do the rest of the video which its not finished yet.

Credits

Its not done yet but i thought it would be a good idea to use photoshop and then later on do our own credits together as in making a video for the credits because it will make it more interesting to see and also we will add music to the credits. The song thats been created for the film.

Day 1

We took photos of us while we were filming and what room we used. We had difficulties when using the room, because we started in an english room and then people walked in because they had tutorial so we had to go and find another room so it was really frustrating trying to find another room so we went to our tutor and teacher so he could help up to find a new room. So he found us a room and we started to film but then a teacher walked in because they had a meeting there in 3 minutes so we had to stop shooting and we started to edit and it turned out that we only had 1 full shot.

Editor

Editor. Thats my key role in this project, and i wrote what i have to do to be an editor and how doing my role will help this project and how will it work as a team.
I cant edit the film yet because it hasn't been done yet, but as soon as its done i will start using Photoshop and final cut express.

Shot lists

I still have to fill out the props but there are 2 pages of shot lists and another one coming up.
I relay my shot lists on the story board and made sure that the shot lists matched with the story board.

 I have describe what happens in each shot and also went over the pencil drawings with a black pen because they had to be photocopied. So if it was in pencil it would just rub against another pages and it will keep happening and it will end up being a blank page.

 This is when the conversation starts which is over the should, you can tell by the shadows.

Proposal and treatment

A proposal is an outline of the idea that you are proposing to meet the requirements of the audience.

We wrote pretty much what's exactly going to happen in the story and what kind of shots we're going to use.

next time it would be better if we explained how are we going to do those shots and go into more detail to give the

audience a clearer idea of the film.

Its a rough idea, we will keep on the same track but we will change a few things and do it differently as we go along.

We will all be more confident about what's going on and we will all have a clear idea of what happens in the film.

Hunted Ideas

This was our ideas going towards the film. This is the kind of stuff that people would expect in a horror film but we also a few more stuff such as 'confusion' 'chased' and 'psychological'
To give the audience a clearer idea of our film.
And then we wrote down a few facts/information about what's going to happen or about the main character such as what's his job and what's wrong with him or what's going on in his life 'insomnia'

9 Key Frames

This is a roughly idea of what our shots are going to be, and it also gives you the idea of what kind of shot lists are going to be.
They are NOT in order as its just a rough idea which will be improved as we go along and we get a clear idea of the story.
Most of the shots happen in the forest and you can see how this is related to my mood board.
There will be 1 or maybe 2 shots where the main character is in the office. It would be better if we could do more shots to make the film more developed.

Mood board

This is my mood board for my short film. This is the kind of idea i want the audience to receive from my film.
Dark theme, its obvious that its going to be a Horror or/and Thriller film and psychology is involved, which sounds quite interesting.
Also the pills are for insomnia, and most of the most famous horror films include a little girl involve or a toy such as a clown. To make you feel sorry for the girl or to give you a warning that its going to get creepy.
The forest gives you the idea of being alone in the dark and having no one with you, and 'are you afraid of the dark?' image is a rhetorical question and makes you think about the whole idea of the film, and it also makes you think about what the film is going to be about.
It includes a detective as you can see in the top-middle of the image, thats the job of the main character.

Ident

This is my Ident. i manage to get the lense to move from the right side of the screen to inside the 'P' and then i got the 'media' to come out of nowhere and to move around a little bit before finishing.

New York Final Cut editing Training

This is My new york video. First video i have ever made with Final Cut Express. I learned to combine short videos together with a song that i created on garage band. The after that when i had everything done i put the ''in'' and ''out'' mark on the video to know when to get the video to start ad to finish so you can then go to ''File'' - ''Export'' - ''Quick time Movie''
And then you have your video done.
You have to measure the amount of time that you want your short videos to be playing. You dont really want them to be too long otherwise it gets boring, and you also have to make sure that when you change the image it has to go well with the music, so it 'flows'
I used the 'rubber bands' at the beginning of the video but because i was running out of time (i took too long to make the song) i completely forgot to keep doing so it just looks like a lot of short videos put together with music so it doesn't flow as much as i would have liked it to. So next time i will remember to keep using the rubber bands when its needed.

Final Video

This is my final video i added the sequences in the master tab. I got all the sequences together and i added my ident at the beginning along with my tittle and my theme song. Which is the song where the agent is running towards his destination.

The Meeting.

These shots took us longer than it thought it would. Tom (character 1) ; the one with the hood, was doing a weird voice for his character and it was really hard not to laugh. so we had to do most of the shots more than once. Louis (character 2) couldn't stop laughing either so it was quite hard to film it if he was laughing.
In this sequence we forgot to do a close-up shot of each of them without talking and because we were rushing at the end because we thought we weren't going to get it done. So i had to re frame two of the shots to do the close up of each character.

The Phone Call.

The Phone call was about character 1 wanting to meet character 2 so character 1 is telling character 2 to meet him in G19.
This shots didn't take us that long. We went to find places around College for character 1 and character 2. We got character 1 looking at one direction and character 2 looking to the opposite direction to make it fit, as if they were actually talking to each other face to face.
We went to the forest for character 1 and it was quite noisy because there were people walking by and the trains were going passed constantly and also planes and birds. But we made sure that it was silence when we were filming and that the audience could hear our characters talk loud and clear.

Bomb sequence 2

I got the whole action scene finished with the sound clip added when the agent is running to his destination. And i also recorded a punch and i added it to the scene when theyre fighting so it sounds like they're are actually punching each other. You could also hear the bin when character 2 smashes his head against it.

Long Road Bomb Sequence

This is my song for the action sequence when the agent is running to his destination and finds the bomb. I mixed two songs together and i added drum's and tambourine. This is an image of some of the clips i used to make it.

Action Sequence

This was the third sequence that we did. It was the conversation between the operator (me) and the agent. The conversation was about where the bomb was and what wire to cut. We did quite a few shots and we had more than one shot for a scene because we all had different ideas, so each of us could decide what scene they liked more so all of the sequences are not going to be the same for everyone in our group. We had some difficulties because we filmed this scene in 3 different days so we were all wearing different clothes. And also while we were filming the tracking shot where the agent is running into the forest, the grass was wet so the 'wheelchair' that we used got really wet, specially the wheels so it was hard to move it around when we were filming because it kept getting stuck on the ground.
And in the conversation between the operator and the agent there was another problem. When the operator talks you can hear the outside door closing on the background, we were going to film it again but we thought it would be confusing if one of the characters randomly changed its clothes. Next time we're going to check the videos before we move on because we were so focused on what we were doing that we didn't even hear the door.
I also used the Linked selection and snaping tool in Final Cut Express to make the videos linked together easily and make sure i don't leave any gaps between each clip.
Also there were quite a few people coming in and out of the main building because we decided to film it there.

My story board

This is our story board about The phone call, we planned it on here before we went out to the forest to act and film the shots. We wrote down the type of shots such as : over the should, close up etc...
I forgot to do the end of credits and the beginning.
So next time i will make sure im not missing anything, maybe make a check list or simply remember it.
We did it as a group and one person did the writing and the drawings in pencil and the other person went over it with pen because it could easily rub out.
We all shared ideas to this story board and we all did exactly what we planned on the story board because we were all happy to do them shots  and in the same order.

Meeting

I had a few problems in these shots. For example, the bomb was on one side and on the other shot it was on a different side. Also we had to change rooms through the middle of the conversation because that room was going to be used for a lesson, and we didnt have enough time to use the room for the whole conversation. So the atmosphere wasn't the same, and the light of the room was different, even though we did try to get the same atmosphere by moving the chairs and tables around and also the lights, to get the same amount of light as the other room. Also we completely missed on the story board where it said  'close up' of character 1 and 2. (shots 10 and 11) so i had to find a shot of Tom on the shots 4,6,8 (the conversation) without him talking and then find a shot of Louis on shots 5,7(the conversation) without talking and i had to re-frame it. And put them before shot 12 (the last one) where they belong. It wasnt easy to find the shots without them talking, because its a conversation so theyre both talking. Also when i re-framed it the  quality wasn't as good.

Phone Call

We chose 3 places. one for character 1 , the other one for character 2 and then character one walking to G19. We did all our shots from 1-8 in the same place. We chose that place because it was calm and away from everyone and it was a nice background. Then shots 9-16 with character 2 in the same place, sitting on the stairs waiting for that phone call. And finally 17 and 18 was character 2 walking to the room and opening the door, and we were focusing on the character but also we gave the audience a view of the background, and we made sure that the audience could understand what was going on clearly but without them getting bored. So i also made sure that the clips weren't too long. For example when character 1 was waiting on the second/third shot, it was quite long but i didn't use the whole clip because the audience get the idea that he's waiting for someone to answer. Or for example when character 1 is dialing a number, he pressed quite a lot of number but i only used a few seconds of his pressing 3-4 numbers. The audience gets the idea that the character is calling someone.
We got all our videos into our laptops and then I put the shots directly in the right order.
1,2,3,9,4,10,5,11,12,6,13,7,14,8,15,16,17,18.
Which connects the shots together and it makes sense.
I got rid of me saying 'shot 1' at the beginning and i got rid of a few seconds at the end because there was some wasted time at the end which i didn't need.

Horror Stills Task

We got told to do a Horror Still Task in groups. We had to do 10 different types of shots.
1.Establishing shot.
2.Close up
3.Extreme close up.
4.Mid shot
5.Long shot
6.Canted shot
7.Point of view
8.Over the shoulder
9.High angle
10.Low angle

We went to the forest and we thought of a story that we wrote down on our story board, and we took pictures of the action using those 10 types of shots for each image.
We took the pictures and then we came up into the classroom and uploaded our pictures into our laptops. (File - Log and transfer) and we used final cut express to use our images. Our teacher gave us the music and the special effects to add to the pictures and to create a dramatic scene.
So we all chose 1 different track for our video and used the pictures in different order.
Then we added special effects to make it more interesting and to make the audience to feel more involved in the scene and to make then know what is happening.
Also i wanted to try something different so i used photoshop to edit most of the images, i nearly ran out of time but they looked better than the original ones.
I think that project went quite well, and there was a dramatic end. But next time the character shouldn't be looking at the camera and get clear shots of what's going on in the story, because to be honest it wasn't really clear, we knew what was going on but the audience was a bit confused, so next time show the audience a clear story.

New York Final Cut Project.

I used images in a folder called media. and I created a song by adding 2 or more songs together using Garage Band. I added different pictures at the top of that bold line and i added effects to those pictures to make it more interesting and not boring, and by experimenting it turned out that it was quite fancy and interesting, and not just simple images put together with music.
I added my audio under the bold line and i made sure it was same length as the images. And i also added txt to the video to inform the audience.
I had to make sure that the music went well with the images, and i had to control the amount of time that one picture would be on screen before changing to another image to make it link together.
Its really straight forward. Pretty much i all i did was add pictures, create a song and add it.
I did have some trouble to make the song as i missed a big day of media when they did it, so it was all new to me, but i managed to catch up and i think i did pretty well.

Target Audience.

In marketing and advertising, a target audience, or target group is the primary group of people that something  is aimed at appealing to.
audience is the people who watch read,buy or listen to.
It is also called 'Target Population'
I did this using google images and Photoshop. I got pictures of bands i like,tv series, food  and just things i like in general. I added arrows to link the image to the rest of the images i got from google.

Am i Normal?

 This is a quiz called ''Are you normal?'' and this is what ive got.
You get really random and weird questions and you dont really know how to answer them so I just answered the questions how i thought i should answer them because they linked to me.

Second quizz

I also got Emo. I like BMTH and all that kind of music but i don't really dress any different just because i listen to heavy music or rock. They had good questions and they were easy to understand.

I did this quiz and this what i got. I answered all the questions being honest and this is what ive got.
To be honest i dont think im a goth at all, it came up with questions like what music do you listen to and what kind of stuff ive got in my bag.







This is the video i've got for Goth. The internet was being really slow because there were quite a lot of people using the internet but we finally got it to work.

Logo

For my logo the first thing i did was get my background. Which is related to media and you can see that by the musical notes. I used txt to do the P and then somehow i managed to change the colour in it and i moved it around so i had space to add 'media' afterwards. And then i got a picture of a lense of a camera and i got rid of the whole camera and added a bright light around the lense to make it more interesting. Then i used one of my fonts that i donwloaded it and wrote 'media' with it. Also i did bubbles, which is a type of brush i downloaded, and used it on the lenses.
And thats all i have done for my logo, i added animation.

shapes

This is part of the Photoshop training. We had to do shapes, fonts and brushes. And this are my shapes.
I got all of this shapes from Photoshops and i picked one of those symbols and set it as a background and changed the color of it. Then after that i used another symbol and put it on top of the background and made it in a weird kind of shape to make it look better. And i added  another symbol on the right corner to have something else, so i dont just have to symbols put together. I also changed the colour of it.
